Alex Mendham and his Orchestra perform the romantic and stylish music of the 1920’s and 30s with the modern energy and passion of their youthful years. They epitomise Hollywood’s golden era of Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers.
No corner is cut when it comes to presenting the sound, charm and white-tie elegance of vintage Hollywood: from their original instruments and pomade that slicks down their hair to the sharp tuxedos and spectacular dresses, no detail is overlooked.
Formed under the leadership and direction of their charismatic 27 year old founder and singer Alex Mendham, this young 11-piece Orchestra complete with singing duo, The Dunlop Sisters present a unique combination of hot jazz, sweet dance music and film scores from the Hollywood musical that has wowed audiences wherever they perform. Highly in demand, the Orchestra has performed in iconic venues throughout the U.K and internationally from Mountain Resorts of Europe to Palaces in Russia and beyond. Although the Orchestra is most at home in theatre show settings recreating the opulence of vintage Hollywood, amidst a busy show schedule they also perform for private high end luxury events and launches that have included such renowned venues as Kensington Palace.
2017 saw sell out shows across the U.K including Cheltenham, Harrogate, Petworth, Canterbury Snape Proms and Wilderness Music Festival, alongside The Orchestra appeareances across BBC radio and television. The orchestra have recently released a brand new studio album ‘On with the show’ which has received critical acclaim.
Special guests appearing with The Alex Mendham Orchestra will be The Twin Swing. The girls are a popular 1920’s Entertainment act on the vintage scene having performed at many high-end venues across the world singing and dancing. They regularly host a tea dance at London’s Waldorf Hotel & this year appeared at the International Twins festival in China where they closed the show.
